DR. PELTON IS AN OCULOFACIAL PLASTIC SURGEON AND HAS been in practice in Colorado Springs since 2000. Dr. Pelton’s surgical subspecialty relates to surgery of the face (with emphasis on the eyelids, tearing system, and facial bones). As an oculofacial surgeon, Dr. Pelton frequently performs cosmetic and reconstructive blepharoplasty (reshaping the eyelids), ptosis repair (lazy eyelid) in children and adults, facial repair and reconstruction after trauma, skin cancer, dog bites, and facial fractures as well as many other common eyelid problems. A patient-centered approach to problem solving defines the goal of the entire office. “I take great satisfaction from the many compliments I get on my office staff. They take great pride in taking care of people and it shows.” Every patient leaves with Dr. Pelton’s cell phone number. “I was recently on a surgical mission to Vietnam and got phone calls and texts from patients almost every day. I want to be available anytime my patients need me.”

Volunteer mission work is a large part of Dr. Pelton’s professional life. He travels frequently to teach oculofacial techniques in regions all over the world. He has recently performed surgery and lectured in Vietnam, Mongolia, Myanmar, northern India, and the Philippines as well as lecturing in China, Canada, Singapore, and Australia. He has also lectured in Mexico City, Saudi Arabia, and in southern India as a faculty member of AO North America, teaching other facial surgeons how to repair facial fractures. Dr. Pelton is a volunteer with Orbis (www.orbis.org) the Flying Eye Hospital as well as with the Hawaiian Eye Foundation, and he was awarded the 2018 Humanitarian award from the El Paso County Medical Society for his volunteer work. Dr. Pelton has lectured as a visiting professor at the University of Colorado, the University of Iowa, The University of Utah, the University of Minnesota, and at Yale Medical School. In addition, Dr. Pelton has served as the chair of the Ethics Committee of the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as on the board of the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Company (OMIC).

Dr. Pelton’s education includes MD and PhD degrees from the medical school at Vanderbilt University and a residency at Baylor College of Medicine, followed by a two-year fellowship in oculofacial surgery at the University of Utah.
